Large waste removal campaign from Posidonia meadows
The aim is to locate and extract large debris that is impacting the marine pharynx meadows in the area. The actions begin with a first location of the waste that will be carried out this week and in the assessment of the impact of the extraction based on its integration in the prairies. Once the best action to be carried out has been located and analyzed, any waste deemed appropriate will be removed .
The campaign will end with actions of dissemination and awareness in both localities about the importance of marine phanerogams, with the aim of preventing the accumulation of this type of waste in the future (more related to the anchoring of boats and with certain maritime activities).
It is important to remember that marine phanerogams, including posidonia, play a key ecological role in the marine environment, being habitat-generating species on which a large number of marine species depend. They are also large producers of oxygen and carbon dioxide collectors and are protected at regional, state and European level.
